From the technique

After studying the software for a long time I looked for a project that would let me build a complete scene. I wanted to go beyond the single object, so I imagined this shelving unit inside a hypothetical home.

Once I had found the right model and modified it, I started furnishing the room, adding elements: parquet recreated through textures, books personalised with images, glass candle holders that bring in colour.

Adding the side window let me place an external sun light that highlights the glossy material of the unit and creates a more realistic light. Alongside the sun light I added an HDRI texture in world to create the daylight effect. To get it coming in through the window correctly I rotated it with the mapping node.

To the story

Are we sure Ikea is a low cost brand with no style? And what if a simple shelf could optimise your space and be personalised at the same time?

With Kallax modules you can build a cabinet, a bookcase, a trophy shelf. Everything you need to organise and furnish any room. One of the available finishes is lacquered red: it catches the eye and gives new life to a room, creating the right contrast with a white wall.

I also changed the style of the advertising itself. Ikea leans heavily on voiceovers and very minimal scenes with calm music. With this video I wanted to bring out different sides of a product that, in its simplicity, lets you create many different styles.
