Margherita signs in LIS
A 3D avatar that speaks Italian Sign Language, built with Rokoko motion capture and finished in Blender.

An avatar that breaks barriers
I am proud to introduce Margherita, a 3D avatar that breaks language barriers and opens new ways of interacting for the deaf community. Through her ability to communicate in Italian Sign Language, Margherita is a step forward for accessibility on the web.
The project was produced by QuestIT in collaboration with the CNR and the University of Siena.

How we got there
Motion capture recording: I assisted a sign language interpreter wearing the Rokoko suit to capture body and hand movement with maximum precision.
Post production and facial animation: I handled the entire post production in Blender, refining the movement, syncing the lips and bringing a realistic, engaging facial expressiveness to life.
